Twenty-two countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), continued to condemn Iran’s attacks on regional commercial shipping and civilian infrastructure on Saturday.
The 22 nations, including the UAE, showed concern over an Iranian warning after Ibrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, threatened an attack on Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE.
“We have previously announced and proven in practice that we will retaliate if any attack occurs on our region and national sovereignty,” Zolfaghari stated.
Ras Al Khaimah is an industrial port city and is also the largest city and capital of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.
He warned, “We warn the UAE that if there are repeated attacks on Iran’s Abu Musa Island and Greater Tunb in the Persian Gulf, Iran’s powerful military will strike Ras Al Khaimah hard.”
The United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Denmark, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Czechia, Romania, Bahrain, Lithuania, and Australia expressed serious concern over this incident.
The statement warned that recent developments, including the “actual blockade” of the “Strait of Hormuz,” pose a serious risk to global trade and energy security.
The statement urged, “We call on Iran to immediately cease its threatening rhetoric, drone and missile attacks using sea mines, and other attempts to block the Strait of Hormuz.”
Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defense stated that its air defense system intercepted three ballistic missiles and eight drones launched from Iran toward its territory on Saturday.
The ministry reported that since the attacks began, the UAE’s air defense has intercepted 341 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,748 drones.
On February 28, a joint attack by the United States and Israel on Tehran and several other Iranian cities resulted in the deaths of senior military commanders, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and civilians, causing damage to numerous physical structures.
In retaliation, Iran initiated a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and American military bases and assets in the Middle East. This conflict has devastated the Middle East, including Iran.
