NEW DELHI: The Centre is committed to transforming India Post<\/a> from a traditional service organisation to a modern, technology-enabled and globally competitive logistics and distribution network, said Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia<\/a> on Sunday. <\/p>\n

At an event in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Scidnia outlined a four-point programme to transform India Post<\/a>, which includes accuracy in transaction and delivery; courtesy and professionalism in behaviour; commitment to seamless delivery; and delivery excellence<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cTechnology, including modern parcel hubs, improved routing, digital tracking systems, electric vehicles, and advanced logistics infrastructure, will serve as enablers, but the human connection embodied by the Dakiya will remain at the heart of India Post,\u201d the minister said. <\/p>\n

He was addressing a gathering of over 9,000 Gramin Dak Sevaks<\/a>. The minister termed the Andhra Pradesh circle as a \u201cfrontline force\u201d in India Post\u2019s transformation journey.<\/p>\n

Highlighting the financial inclusion<\/a> role of India Post, Scindia noted that over 38 crore Post Office Savings Bank accounts are operational across the country, with a corpus of nearly \u20b922 lakh crore mobilised through the dedicated efforts of Gramin Dak Sevaks<\/a> across the length and breadth of India. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis vast financial base reflects the trust reposed by citizens in India Post and its grassroots workforce,\u201d the minister said. <\/p>\n
