The toys are back in town. Unfortunately for them, they\u2019re not alone. New, modern tech wants to replace them<\/a> in the fantastic new trailer for Toy Story 5<\/a><\/em>. But those old playthings aren\u2019t going down without a fight. They have a young girl who needs them more than ever. They also have an old pal to help them in their mission, as we finally know how Woody will find his way back to his old playroom.<\/p>\n

One of the greatest, most beloved franchises in movie history is back for its fifth big screen installment, and it\u2019s truly a meeting of old and new. Toy Story<\/em> pitted an old toy against a new one. Now Toy Story 5<\/em> is pitting old toys against new tech. But this time the fight isn\u2019t about which one of them will be a child\u2019s favorite. It\u2019s about doing what\u2019s best for Bonnie, as a flashy screen is the last thing she needs. Here\u2019s the official synopsis from Pixar:<\/p>\n

The toys are back and this time, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang\u2019s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This trailer shows how Tom Hanks\u2019 Woody will rejoin the group despite leaving them at the end of Toy Story 4<\/em>. He\u2019s answering the call (with a little less \u201chair\u201d than before) and falling right back into his old routine with Tim Allen\u2019s Buzz Lightyear. Other returning alums include Joan Cusask, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, Keanu Reeves, and Tony Hale.<\/p>\n

Other newcomers include Craig Robinson as Atlas, \u201ca cheerful talking GPS hippo toy.\u201d Shelby Rabara will play \u201cthe excitable camera toy Snappy. Scarlett Spears voices Bonnie. And Conan O\u2019Brien will play a potty-training device called Smarty Pants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Oscar winner Andrew Stanton (WALL\u2022E, Finding Nemo<\/em>) directs. The film is co-directed by Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto<\/em>). Legendary composer Randy Newman is also back to make it five-for-five. <\/p>\n
