Parts of the Strait of Hormuz will close for a few hours on Tuesday due to ‘security precautions’ for shipping safety, semi-official Fars news agency reported, as the Revolutionary Guards conduct military drills in the waterway.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The Strait is the world’s most vital oil export route, connecting the largest Gulf oil producers, such as Saudi Arabia, Iran<\/a>, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates<\/a>, with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

According to Fars, the IRGC<\/a> Navy commander claimed that, “The weapon that reaches the battlefield on the day of war is different from what is displayed in exercises.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

On Monday, Iran launched a Hormuz drill<\/a> as an attempt to push back against the US, a person familiar with the matter told The Jerusalem Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The exercise was reported by Iran\u2019s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

It focused on the regime\u2019s naval forces and was reportedly carried out under the supervision of the IRGC Commander Maj.-Gen. Mohammad Pakpour.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The exercise aimed to assess the readiness of Iran\u2019s naval operations units and to review security plans and scenarios for \u201creciprocal\u201d military action by the IRGC, Tasnim reported.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n
