Buckie in days gone by will look back at pictures of the town – and surrounding areas – and shine a light on some of the biggest events to have happened in our community.<\/p>\n Taken from the archives of the Buckie and District Fishing Heritage Centre Ltd, the pictures show the town and its surrounding areas – in some cases more than 100 years ago.<\/p>\n Our first photo was taken at the former Herd & McKenzie Shipyard showing a view of the prow of a boat being built, while the other was captured at the neighbouring Jones\u2019 yard.<\/p>\n Herd & McKenzie closed in 1995 and, after a while under the ownership of Buckie Shipyard Ltd is now owned and run by Macduff Shipyards. Jones\u2019 also closed in 1995.<\/p>\n Since closing, alternative plans for the site were tabled, including a controversial plan to build housing – vigorously opposed by local residents at the time – and an attempt to build the first lubricating oil blending plant in Scotland.<\/p>\n The site has now been demolished.<\/p>\n Do you recognise any of the people captured in these photos or can you shed light on the events shown?
