\n ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 14.<\/strong>
\nTurkmenistan has created the Ministry of Automobile Roads on the
\nbasis of the former State Agency for Road Construction Management,
\nTrend reports via the press service of the Turkmen
\nGovernment.<\/p>\n

The decision was made by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a
\nCabinet meeting on Turkmenistan’s 2025 macroeconomic performance.
\nThe President appointed Hojamurat Kerimov as the head of the new
\nministry, which was established in order to modernize the country’s
\nroad infrastructure and improve the efficiency of the transport
\nsystem.<\/p>\n

Starting from January 1, 2026, Turkmenistan begin to apply new
\nsimplified licensing rules for road freight transport. The
\npresidential decree approved a new Regulation on Licensing of Road
\nTransport Activities, which streamlines requirements and conditions
\nfor obtaining licenses for cargo transportation. The document also
\nupdates and simplifies the list of documents required from
\napplicants.<\/p>\n

Turkmenistan plays a key transit role in Central Asia,
\nparticipating in the Lapis Lazuli Corridor (linking
\nAfghanistan\/Central Asia to Europe via Tu\u0308rkiye), as a potential
\nlink in the INSTC (via Iran\/Persian Gulf), and as a Caspian Sea
\nnation leveraging the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian) and the
\nTRACECA network (Europe-Caucasus-Asia) to diversify trade,
\nconnecting to Europe, Tu\u0308rkiye, and the Indian Ocean through the
\nAshgabat Agreement, aiming to become a major Eurasian logistics hub
\nand reduce reliance on traditional routes.<\/p>\n
