In a bid to keep the global tech industry connected, 15 of the world’s most powerful companies, including Google<\/a>, Microsoft, Amazon and Jio Platforms, have joined forces to launch the Trusted Tech Alliance (TTA). Announced on Friday (February 13) at the Munich Security Conference, this \u201cUnited Nations of Tech\u201d aims to ensure that technology remains safe, transparent, and accessible, regardless of which country it comes from.<\/span>The group is based on a shared set of principles for a trusted technology stack, which includes connectivity, cloud infrastructure, semiconductors, software and AI. The move comes as a response to growing \u2018digital sovereignty\u2019, where countries are trying to build walls around their tech sectors to reduce dependence on foreign powers, particularly the US.<\/span>Recently, several leaders, including France President Emmanuel Macron, spoke on the issue of relying too heavily on American technology. This led to a push for \u2018digital sovereignty\u2019 \u2013 an idea that a country should have total control over its own data and software. <\/span><\/p>\n

The 15 member companies have committed to five core principles:<\/span>Maintaining transparent corporate governance and ethical behaviour.<\/span>Building technology securely and allowing independent experts to check their work.<\/span>Ensuring that hardware meets high global security standards.<\/span>Supporting a digital world that is inclusive and encourages innovation.<\/span>Respecting the rule of law and protecting user privacy at all costs.<\/span>The Alliance includes: Anthropic, Cohere, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Reliance Jio (India), Nokia (Finland), Ericsson (Sweden), NTT (Japan), SAP (Germany), Hanwha (South Korea), and Saab (Sweden).<\/span><\/p>\n
