NAGOYA (Kyodo) — Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday that its chairman, Akio Toyoda, has been selected for induction into the U.S. Automotive Hall of Fame, which honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the automotive industry.\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Toyoda will be the fourth member of the Japanese automaker’s founding family to receive the honor, after his father, Shoichiro, grandfather, Kiichiro, and distant cousin, Eiji, a former president, Toyota said.\n<\/p>\n

“I would like to accept this nomination on behalf of the many Toyota team members who have supported me throughout my journey and who work every day to provide mobility for all,” Toyoda said in an Instagram post on Tuesday.\n<\/p>\n

Toyoda has been recognized for “redefining global automotive leadership through a driver-first philosophy, restoring passion, performance, and purpose to modern mobility while guiding Toyota through a transformative era,” the hall said on its website.\n<\/p>\n
