Image Credit: Viking Line<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> <strong>Viking Line<\/strong> and its port partners say progress is being made on plans to create a fossil-free shipping corridor between Finland&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Turku<\/strong> and Sweden&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>Stockholm<\/strong> by <strong>2035<\/strong>, two years after the project was launched.<\/p>\n<p> The ferry operator is working with the <strong>Port of Turku <\/strong>and <strong>Ports of Stockholm <\/strong>on measures including greater use of renewable fuels, shore power development and zero-emission targets for vessels at berth, it said in an email statement on <strong>Monday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> The green shipping corridor was launched in<strong> February 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p> Work so far has included studies into battery installations on Viking Line ferries, installation of energy-saving hull technology and increased usage of bio-LNG.<\/p>\n<p> Viking Line\u2019s dual-fuel ferries <a href=\"https:\/\/shipandbunker.com\/news\/emea\/577252-viking-line-ramped-up-bio-lng-use-tenfold-in-2025\">bunkered <\/a>6,000 mt of bio-LNG in 2025 \u2013 a tenfold increase from the volume bunkered in 2024. The company has also secured enough <a href=\"https:\/\/shipandbunker.com\/news\/emea\/415666-viking-line-secures-bio-lng-covering-50-of-fuel-needs-for-first-half-of-2026\">bio-LNG to cover 50%<\/a> of the fuel needs of its LNG-fuelled vessels for the first half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p> The ports are also advancing plans for onshore power and charging infrastructure, as well as access to sustainable fuels.
