LEONARDTOWN, Md. <\/strong>\u2014 The Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center<\/a> Tech Expo is designed to introduce students and families to career and technical education opportunities available through St. Mary\u2019s County Public Schools, while also serving as an entry point into the application process for future enrollment.<\/p>\n

The most recent Tech Expo drew an estimated 2,000 attendees and generated hundreds of recorded visits. According to St. Mary\u2019s County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Smith, who mentioned the expo during the Feb. 3 St. Mary\u2019s County Board of Education meeting, more than 600 applications were already submitted for the 2026-27 academic year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve gone out to each one of the schools and talked about opportunities, as well as having the Tech Expo,\u201d Smith said. \u201cSo, looking forward to a fantastic upcoming year at the tech center.\u201d<\/p>\n

Applications for the 2027 academic year<\/a> remain open through Feb. 20, 2026, and school officials are encouraging families who missed the expo to learn about available programs<\/a> and complete the application process.<\/p>\n

Students and families who were unable to attend the Tech Expo will have another opportunity during an open house<\/a> scheduled for Friday, Feb. 20, from 1\u20133 p.m., at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center<\/a> in Leonardtown.<\/p>\n
