The company is already processing Euro 7 approvals for clients seeking to get ahead of schedule.

Simon Williams, RDE Operations Leader at MAHLE Powertrain, emphasises the need for early planning: “Forward planning will be essential to managing what’s expected to be an extremely busy period for testing facilities across Europe. Manufacturers who start their Euro 7 type approvals early can avoid the natural peak in demand closer to the November 2026 deadline and ensure their vehicle launch schedules remain on track.”

What Euro 7 Means for Manufacturers

While Euro 7 maintains similar tailpipe emissions limits to Euro 6, it enforces compliance more rigorously under real driving conditions. Compliance periods are extended to 10 years or 200,000km. In addition, the new standards introduce stricter battery durability requirements for electric and hybrid vehicles, alongside mandatory testing across broader temperature ranges and driving conditions.

Early action is particularly important for European and German manufacturers who often rely on UK testing facilities for efficient certification and cross-border trade.

MAHLE Powertrain Support

MAHLE Powertrain provides comprehensive emissions testing capabilities, including full legislative temperature and altitude testing, battery durability assessments, and cold-temperature EV range evaluations. These services support OEMs as they transition to the next generation of vehicle standards, ensuring compliance and helping maintain launch schedules.

By starting Euro 7 testing early, manufacturers can mitigate risks associated with peak demand at testing facilities and ensure a smooth rollout of compliant vehicles in the EU market.

From that date, all new vehicle models sold in the EU must achieve Euro 7-equivalent type approval.
