In an effort to promote the facilitation of trade, the Guyana Customshouse Brokers & Clerks Association met recently with the Customs, Excise & Trade Administra-tion to address concerns regarding the timely clearance of cargo, a release yesterday from the Association stated.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which was held on Friday, January 30, in the boardroom of the Guyana Revenue Authority, Camp Street, Georgetown, was jointly chaired by Comptroller, Customs, Excise Trade & Operations, Rohan Beekhoo, and President, Guyana Customshouse Brokers & Clerks Association, Colin Moore.<\/p>\n

According to the release, the engagement saw productive discussion on items such as: 1) extending the advance reporting of import vessels; 2) advance registration of inward manifests; 3) additional training for customshouse brokers; 4) grading of customshouse brokers; 5) processing time for customs declarations; 6) examination of cargo at wharves\/port facilities; and 7) standardisation of customshouse brokers fees.<\/p>\n

The meeting concluded on a positive note with an agreement for both parties to meet at least biannually to review and enhance measures for the facilitation of trade, the release added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
