SDF is believed to have handled the most cargo of any airport in North America last year.<\/p>\n

LOUISVILLE, Ky. \u2014 The Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) saw a slight decrease in commercial passengers in 2025, but still posted one of its best years.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Last year 4.59 million people<\/a> flew in or out of SDF, down from a record 4.8 million in 2024. That passenger count is the third-highest in the airport’s history.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cPassenger figures remained consistently strong throughout last year,\u201d said Dan Mann, executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, which owns and operates SDF. \u201cTo experience three consecutive years of record-setting growth, all of which mark the highest passenger totals in SDF\u2019s history is a testament to the community\u2019s support and the robust air service options available to travelers at our airport.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Eight airlines provide service to more than 40 nonstop destinations from Louisville. 19 routes increased their capacity throughout 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Airport officials spoke Thursday to wrap up 2025 and look ahead to 2026. They said progress continues on the SDF Next program, which is a $1 billion project to bring several improvements to the airfield and Jerry E. Abramson Terminal.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

It was also revealed last year was the busiest year for cargo operations. Nearly 7.5 billion pounds of cargo was handled at the airport, which is the home of UPS Worldport.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
