Porsche starts Cayenne Electric production on flexible line with new battery tech, shop<\/h4>\n

Flexible production of the Cayenne Electric has begun on a line with both combustion engines and hybrid drives so Porsche can \u201creact quickly to changes in demand,\u201d according to a press release<\/a> from the OEM.<\/p>\n

The Cayenne Electric premiered worldwide in November and is being produced in Bratislava, Slovakia.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to further expand its own battery expertise in a targeted manner, the sports car manufacturer is also relying on battery modules developed entirely in-house for the Cayenne Electric,\u201d the release states.<\/p>\n

It adds that the modules are manufactured in the Porsche Smart Battery Shop in nearby Horn\u00e1 Streda, Slovakia, a state-of-the-art production site for the next generation of battery modules.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe close integration with Porsche Toolmaking was a key success factor: competencies from prototype production could be seamlessly transferred to series production,\u201d the release states. \u201cIn a precisely controlled process consisting of cell preparation, stacking, laser welding, foaming, cold plate integration, and end-of-line testing, the modules are created under complete quality control.\u201d<\/p>\n

Markus Kreutel, Executive Board of Porsche Werkzeugbau GmbH chairman, added, \u201cWith the Smart Battery Shop, we are bundling decades of industrialisation experience with state-of-the-art battery technology \u2014 from cell processing to fully automated end-of-line testing. This end-to-end vertical integration gives Porsche control over the quality, precision, and scalability of a key technology that will significantly shape our future.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The high energy density and large pouch cells have a gross energy content of 113 kWh, as well as double-sided cooling. Porche says the cooling process is the world\u2019s first: two cooling plates cool or heat the high-voltage battery from above and below as required, allowing the optimal temperature window to be reached more effectively.<\/p>\n

Porsche says the Cayenne Turbo is its most powerful model of all time, with an output of up to 850 kW (1,156 hp), and has a high Porsche Communication Management (PCM) response speed, plus battery ranges of over 600 kilometers (over 370 miles).<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the Cayenne Electric, we are firmly transferring Porsche\u2019s DNA into the future \u2014 with our battery modules developed in-house, the highest levels of manufacturing quality and a production line that seamlessly combines combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains,\u201d says Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Executive Board for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG. \u201cThis gives us the flexibility we need to reliably provide the highest quality, state-of-the-art technology and to meet individual customer requirements for every market worldwide.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the production of the electric SUV, the Volkswagen Group\u2019s multi-brand site has been extensively expanded, including a new platform hall \u2014 the \u201cbirthplace\u201d of every Cayenne Electric.<\/p>\n

The area is where the skateboard-like chassis is set up, and in the next steps, the side walls, roof, doors, hood, and tailgate are added.<\/p>\n

The body attachments come from the press shop, where a fully automated press line is located.<\/p>\n
