highest level since November as vessel supply is tightening and persistent tensions around Iran put shippers on alert.<\/p>\n<p>The daily rate for an oil tanker to ship crude from the Middle East to China jumped to as high as $129,000 on Monday, up by 5.1% on the day, to the highest level since November 2025, per data from the Baltic Exchange cited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-02-03\/tanker-rates-spike-as-iran-tensions-run-up-against-tight-supply?srnd=phx-industries-energy\">Bloomberg<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rates had already soared by over 60% in a single day on Friday amid the U.S.-Iran tensions, which sent Brent Crude prices to <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Energy\/Energy-General\/Brent-Breaks-70-After-Trump-Threatens-Iran-With-Military-Force.html\">$70 per barrel<\/a> last week&nbsp;when U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran-U.S. war premium put shipowners and charterers on alert.<\/p>\n<p>Although <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Energy\/Energy-General\/Oil-Prices-Tumble-5-Amid-Signs-of-US-Iran-De-escalation.html\">tensions eased<\/a> this weekend after President Trump said that he believes Iran is&nbsp;\u201cseriously\u201d talking&nbsp;with the U.S., tanker rates haven\u2019t slumped.<\/p>\n<p>Supply of vessels for near-term charters remains constrained, pushing earnings for available tankers higher, according to analysts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith fewer vessels available for immediate hire, the remaining independent shipowners have gained significant pricing power,\u201d Wanying Zhang, freight analyst with the ship-tracking platform Vortexa, told Bloomberg.<\/p>\n<p>The fading war premium, for now, could push tanker rates lower later this week.
