shown that with the help of technology to move planes and passengers more quickly, a third runway wouldn\u2019t be needed until Vancouver was handling the magnitude of traffic handled by an airport such as Heathrow in London, England, more than triple that of YVR\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>It means that some of the land being set aside for a third runway can be used for cargo expansion and logistics, noted Vrooman.<\/p>\n<p>To that end, the airport is in early discussions with some of its shipping and container operating colleagues about the possibility of creating the first air-to-marine cargo facility in Canada, she said.<\/p>\n<p>The airport would use its location on an island adjacent to the Fraser River to move cargo directly from the air side to the river, and onto marine barges that
