Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a strategic cargo partnership with Air France\u2013KLM, significantly expanding its global freight reach as the national carrier undergoes major restructuring.<\/p>\n

The agreement, effective from January 15, allows PIA Cargo to access the Air France\u2013KLM global network, enabling exporters to ship goods across Europe and the United States using a single air waybill covering both airline systems.<\/p>\n

Under the partnership, PIA Cargo will connect through regional hubs including Dubai, Riyadh, and Dammam, offering access to major destinations such as Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, D\u00fcsseldorf, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The development follows the recent resumption of direct Islamabad\u2013Paris flights, operating twice weekly since January 10, strengthening air links between Pakistan and Europe. Officials say the cargo partnership will further boost trade, logistics, and business connectivity.<\/p>\n

The expansion also coincides with the completion of PIA\u2019s privatisation process, with the Arif Habib Consortium acquiring a 75 percent stake in the airline through a competitive bidding process.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the move as a milestone expected to improve service standards and restore PIA\u2019s global standing.<\/p>\n

A strengthened cargo network, renewed European routes, and private-sector management signal a new phase for PIA as it seeks to support Pakistan\u2019s trade and travel links with key international markets<\/p>\n
