Fraport AG has signed a lease agreement with Kuhne+Nagel to develop a new air cargo warehouse at CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport, marking another phase in the expansion of the airport\u2019s cargo infrastructure. The facility is scheduled for completion and handover by the end of 2028. <\/p>\n

The project will see Fraport AG oversee construction of the warehouse, which will remain part of its property portfolio. The development is intended to support Kuhne+Nagel\u2019s expansion at Frankfurt, where the logistics group has operated for more than two decades. <\/p>\n

Martin Sch\u00e4fer, SVP Air Logistics Germany at Kuhne+Nagel, said, \u201cFrankfurt is a key global gateway in the Kuehne+Nagel air logistics network. As supply chains become more dynamic, our new cargo facility provides the infrastructure, capacity, and connectivity needed to support our growth ambitions and keep goods moving. This enables us to better serve customers in fast-growing sectors like healthcare, semiconductors, high tech, and cloud infrastructure.\u201d <\/p>\n

The site for the warehouse is located within Frankfurt Airport\u2019s Air Cargo Area 2 and covers about 16,900 square metres. It is positioned near access gate Tor 31. The building will include 7,600 square metres of warehouse space along with 1,100 square metres allocated to offices and social areas. <\/p>\n

The facility will be equipped with 16 gates and truck docks, with designated areas for vehicle movement. A rooftop photovoltaic system is planned to supply electricity to the airport grid, and Fraport is targeting certification under the German Sustainable Building Council\u2019s Gold Award. <\/p>\n

The development forms part of Fraport\u2019s wider CargoHub masterplan, which focuses on space optimisation, space development, digitalisation, and process innovation. Through this framework, the airport operator aims to support growth in the air cargo market while ensuring capacity and infrastructure are aligned with demand at the Frankfurt cargo hub. <\/p>\n
