on noncompliant carriers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/articles\/ata-fraudulent-cdl-mills\" target=\"_blank\">driver training schools<\/a> is helping to rebalance supply and demand in the trucking industry, according to the CEO of the largest truckload carrier. <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">Adam Miller, CEO of Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings, applauded the ongoing work by the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to \u201cclean up some of the unsafe capacity in our industry.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">In addition to the safety implications, he said this push to remove \u201cbad actors\u201d also is chipping away at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/articles\/knight-swift-earnings-q4-2025\" target=\"_blank\">excess freight hauling capacity<\/a>, which has depressed freight rates and contributed to a \u201creally tough\u201d recession in trucking that has endured for more than three years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">\u201cI think the work from this administration is very welcome and we couldn\u2019t be more supportive,\u201d Miller said. \u201cI look forward to seeing that continue into 2026.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">He specifically cited government actions to shut down <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/articles\/dot-cdl-mills-crackdown\" target=\"_blank\">noncompliant driver training schools<\/a>, impose stricter rules for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/articles\/dot-emergency-cdl-ruling\" target=\"_blank\">non-domiciled commercial driver licenses<\/a> and enforce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/articles\/states-english-language-laws\" target=\"_blank\">English-language proficiency requirements<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">\u201cI think all of them together, collectively, will start to have a meaningful impact,\u201d Miller said. \u201cI think what we\u2019re doing collectively is going to make us a much stronger industry, a safer industry, and probably creates a bit more balance in the network.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">Miller shared his perspectives on industry conditions and outlined Knight-Swift\u2019s business initiatives during a Jan. 26 session at <a href=\"https:\/\/jumpstart.smc3.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">SMC\u00b3\u2019s Jump Start 2026 conference<\/a>. The combination, if approved by the Surface Transportation Board, would create a transcontinental freight railroad. <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">Miller said the merger has the potential to speed up transit times and potentially attract new customers to intermodal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">\u201cI think it could be good for what we could offer at Swift Intermodal,\u201d he said. \u201cUltimately, I think it would help the industry, and I think that it would really help our customers.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"TX\">Knight-Swift, based in Phoenix, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/for-hire\/companies\/knight\/2025\" target=\"_blank\">ranks No. 7<\/a> on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttnews.com\/for-hire\/rankings\/2025\" target=\"_blank\">largest for-hire carriers in North America<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\"> <\/a><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/blockads.fivefilters.org\/acceptable.html\"> <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230; chipping away at excess <span class=\"match\">freight<\/span> hauling capacity, which has &#8230; inflection point in the <span class=\"match\">freight<\/span> market but expressed cautious &#8230; and its implications for intermodal <span class=\"match\">freight<\/span>.
