Arlington has a new publicly traded company after a local AI cloud computing platform completed a merger with a California-based health technology firm last week.<\/p>\n

Virginia Square-based Corvex<\/a> finalized a reverse merger with Movano Inc. \u2014 a group that develops \u201cwearable solutions<\/a>\u201d for users to track their personal health data \u2014 last Thursday. Movano is now called \u201cCorvex\u201d and remains under the \u201cMOVE\u201d symbol on the Nasdaq Stock Market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mission is to\u202fengineer\u202fAI infrastructure for customers where speed, security, and scale can be achieved harmoniously, without tradeoffs,\u201d Corvex said in a press release. \u201cCorvex seeks to move the industry beyond commodity GPU access toward a production-grade standard where clients can run AI workloads with confidence, control, and efficiency.\u202f \u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the merger, Corvex, which specializes in \u201cGPU-accelerated infrastructure for AI workloads,\u201d raised $40.2 million with Movano \u201cto expand its pure play platform for secure, high-performance AI Infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The local company, which is headquartered at 3401 N. Fairfax Drive in George Mason University\u2019s Fuse building, aims to \u201cbecome the trusted infrastructure partner for AI model training and inference,\u201d Corvex said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Merger marks the culmination of Corvex\u2019s plan to enter the public markets and underscores its emerging leadership addressing the three defining challenges of the AI era \u2014 more scale, more efficiency, and more security \u2014 via its Amplified AI Cloud\u2122 platform,\u201d Corvex said. \u201cAs global demand for reliable and secure AI computing accelerates, Corvex offers investors differentiated exposure to the infrastructure layer powering the AI innovators of today and tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Corvex joins several publicly traded companies with a foothold in Arlington\u2019s tech and defense sectors, including Amazon, E-Trade and Boeing.<\/p>\n

The merger comes as state and local officials continue to grapple with the possible implications of AI\u2019s influence on the workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile I believe that AI is going to bring enormous positive benefits to society over the next decade, I think in the short run \u2014 next two to five to seven years \u2014 it is going to bring economic disruption unlike anything we\u2019ve seen,\u201d Sen. Mark Warner said last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Back in June<\/a>, former Arlington Economic Development director Ryan Touhill acknowledged the changes AI could introduce \u2014 but said that \u201cArlington\u2019s highly educated workforce is well positioned to adapt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cContinuous learning and upskilling will be key as technology advances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
