This is scheduled for the council’s People Scrutiny Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10am.\n<\/p>\n

The meeting will focus on the positive progress of the council’s effort to enhance social care through assistive technology.\n<\/p>\n

Key issues centred around the service being more reactive than preventative, limited knowledge, and lack of integration into social care assessments.\n<\/p>\n

The transformation plan aims to integrate assistive technology into social care, prevent falls, and support dementia and reablement cases.\n<\/p>\n

Accessibility is being enhanced with online referral forms, a digital diagnosis tool, and improved webpages.\n<\/p>\n

Despite significant progress, there are areas needing further development.\n<\/p>\n

Current efforts include regular marketing to increase referrals, restructuring to support complex tech requirements, and short-term arrangements for maintenance assistance.\n<\/p>\n

However, the rise in referrals and maintenance activities demands a continued robust staffing structure.\n<\/p>\n

The transition from analogue to digital lifeline units is almost complete, with chip and pin payment options being introduced soon.\n<\/p>\n

The committee will also discuss its work forward plan as well as the council and cabinet work forward plan.\n<\/p>\n
