He remains one of the highest-scoring pupils his primary school has ever produced and went on to secure an A- in his KCSE examinations. <\/p>\n<h2>Wepundi\u2019s educational journey<\/h2>\n<p class=\"align-left\">In an interview with Hustle Nation, he disclosed that despite his strong academic foundation, the path ahead was far from clear. That dream, however, was cut short.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-left\">After just a year and a half, financial constraints forced him to drop out, halting what seemed like a promising legal career. For many, it would have marked the end of ambition. For Wepundi, it became the beginning of reinvention.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Wepundi left high-paying job<\/h2>\n<p class=\"align-left\">In an unexpected turn, he broke into the tech space and rose rapidly, so much that by his early twenties, he had secured a role as Chief Operating Officer at a US-based firm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-left\">He was earning close to half a million Kenyan shillings each month, surprised many: he walked away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-left\">Wepundi chose to leave behind the financial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuko.co.ke\/tags\/kenya-security\/\">security<\/a> of his role to pursue entrepreneurship full-time, driven by a problem he understood all too well, the difficulty African freelancers face in receiving international payments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"align-left\">In 2022, he founded Payd, a financial platform designed to simplify cross-border payments for freelancers, creatives, and digital workers in emerging markets.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe asked ourselves: why should independent workers, the backbone of the modern economy, be penalised for their global reach?\u201d Wepundi said. \u201cThat question ignited our passion to build
