Firefighters in rural NSW are being supported by AI-powered camera systems, thermal-imaging drones and satellite connectivity.<\/p>\n

The advanced technology is transforming how emergency services detect and manage bushfires, giving earlier warnings, clearer intelligence and better on-ground co-ordination, state Emergency Services Minister Jihad Dib says. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis upgraded technology helps fire crews arrive better informed and better prepared to tackle the fire and keep communities safe, especially in remote areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese improvements are helping create a more connected fire ground where technology supports the people making critical decisions in rapidly changing conditions.\u201d <\/p>\n

In the past year, high-definition cameras have detected nearly 4000 fires, beating triple zero calls on blazes in the Riverina late last year. Thermal imaging drones provide live vision. <\/p>\n

Vehicles are being upgraded with satellite-enabled communication systems, and thousands of trucks have mobile data terminals to help improve safety in remote areas. <\/p>\n

The NSW Rural Fire Service has responded to more than 8750 bush and grass fires since the start of last October. <\/p>\n
