An LPG cargo ship from the United States arrived at New Mangalore Port on Sunday, as India ramps up alternative energy supplies amid constraints triggered by the ongoing West Asia conflict.<\/p>\n

The vessel Pyxis Pioneer, which departed from Port of Nederland in Texas on February 14, delivered 16,714 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for discharge to Aegis Logistics, officials said.

The arrival comes close on the heels of multiple recent diversions and emergency shipments to India. Just a day earlier, the Russian tanker Aqua Titan, originally en route to China, reached the Mangaluru coast carrying around 7.7 lakh barrels of crude oil. In recent weeks, India has also seen increased reliance on shipments from Russia and the US, as traditional supply routes from West Asia face disruptions due to geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n

The crude from Aqua Titan is being unloaded via an offshore pipeline connected to a jetty located about 12 nautical miles from the shore, supplying Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL).

The port hosts the country\u2019s largest underground LPG storage facility, operational since September 2025, located 225 metres below sea level with a capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes.<\/p>\n

The latest US shipment follows the Russian vessel within a span of a day, underscoring India\u2019s efforts to secure fuel supplies from diversified sources amid ongoing global uncertainties.<\/p>\n

Earlier, vessels Shivalik<\/i> and Nanda Devi<\/i> had also docked as part of India\u2019s ongoing efforts to bolster fuel supplies amid global disruptions.<\/p>\n
