Lufthansa Cargo<\/a> (LH, Frankfurt International<\/a>) reports surging demand, with the Iran war disrupting rivalling UAE carriers and removing up to 20% of global freight capacity. CEO Ashwin Bhat said demand rose 10-15% in early March, with volumes in Southeast Asia up 40%. The airline added freighter flights to India, Asia, and Africa as shippers sought alternatives. Higher fuel costs are being passed to customers. Bhat expected strong demand to continue, but warned of possible fuel shortages and potential in-house labour disputes affecting operations.<\/p>\n

The airline operates twelve B777-200F<\/a> freighters and leases three A321-200(P2F)<\/a>s from sister carrier Lufthansa CityLine<\/a>, ch-aviation data shows. Bhat said fleet expansion had been slowed by Boeing<\/a> delivery delays, with seven B777-8F<\/a>s now expected in 2030 instead of 2027. Lufthansa Cargo generated a EUR324 million euro (USD372 million) operating profit last year, or about 17% of the Lufthansa Group<\/a> total.<\/p>\n
