Container Corporation of India<\/a> Ltd (CONCOR) has rolled out a set of relief measures for exporters, including a 30-day storage window, fee waivers and discounts, and access to domestic containers, to ease pressure of mounting logistics disruptions<\/a> and cargo pile-up<\/a> at inland depots. <\/p>\n

It has announced a 30-day ‘dies-non’ period over the existing free time for storage of factory-stuffed export cargo in export-loaded containers. <\/p>\n

CONCOR will also arrange to give domestic containers, subject to availability, for storing cargo at reasonable charges if required. <\/p>\n

Many export-laden containers are currently stuck at various inland container depots<\/a> of CONCOR, causing severe losses to the exporters, a company statement said.<\/p>\n

Reefer containers will also receive a 30 per cent discount on plug-in charges during this period. Additionally, a 15-day waiver on wharfage, a fee charged for moving cargo under a wharf, dock, will be given for export cargo stored in customs-notified warehouses<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The measures will apply to cargo and containers handled at the company’s inland container depots<\/a> for March. <\/p>\n

The company has also eased charges for exporters withdrawing cargo. Factory-stuffed containers, taken back within 30 days of gate-in will be exempt from terminal service charges and additional terminal infrastructure and equipment imbalance charges. <\/p>\n

These are containers that are loaded with export goods directly at the manufacturer’s factory or warehouse.<\/p>\n

For export containers that were dispatched to ports but returned to inland container depots by March 31, the company will waive additional, terminal infrastructure and equipment imbalance charges. <\/p>\n

Tensions in West Asia flared up after a joint Israel-US air strike eliminated Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since launched retaliatory attacks, bringing ship movement in the Persian Gulf to a standstill. <\/p>\n

These developments have choked the supply of oil and gas around the world. Exporters are also struggling with heightened risks raising shipping freight, and containers.<\/p>\n
