HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has made headlines by signing a significant contract for the construction of 10 container ships with a shipping company based in Asia. Announced on March 16, this deal is valued at 823.7 billion won, approximately $568.1 million. The vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and are scheduled for delivery in the latter half of 2028. This contract marks a substantial addition to the company\u2019s growing portfolio of shipbuilding orders.<\/p>\n

Growing Order Book and Strategic Focus<\/h2>\n

With this latest agreement, HD Korea Shipbuilding<\/a> & Offshore Engineering has now secured orders for a total of 43 vessels, amounting to $5.34 billion. This achievement represents 22.9% of the company\u2019s annual target of $23.31 billion. The diverse range of vessels ordered includes 10 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 20 container ships, 5 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 6 crude oil carriers, and 2 petrochemical product carriers.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, on March 10, the company also announced a contract for two LPG carriers with a European shipowner, valued at 340.2 billion won. These vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and are also expected to be delivered by the second half of 2028. The strategic focus of HD Korea Shipbuilding is on securing contracts for high value-added vessels, particularly LNG carriers, very large crude carriers (VLCCs), and ultra-large container ships.<\/p>\n

Industry analysts predict that demand for crude oil carriers may rise due to geopolitical factors, particularly the ongoing situation in Iran. As HD Korea continues to expand its order book, the company is positioning itself to meet the evolving needs of the global shipping industry.<\/p>\n
