Nuvocargo<\/a> has launched a new artificial intelligence platform designed specifically for shippers that aims to automate large portions of freight execution across North America.<\/p>

The New York-based logistics technology company said its new platform, Nuvo AI, is an AI-native freight execution engine built to help manufacturers, retailers and distributors manage truckload freight while reducing costs and operational complexity.<\/p>

Nuvocargo founder and CEO Deepak Chhugani said the system represents the company\u2019s largest product launch since its founding and is the culmination of years of building logistics software and operational tools.<\/p>

\u201cThis is our biggest launch to date, and it\u2019s something that\u2019s the culmination of years and years of work,\u201d Chhugani said during an interview with FreightWaves.<\/p>\n

Nuvocargo was founded in 2019 as an all-in-one AI-powered platform for trade among the U.S., Mexico and Canada. The company offers 3PL, 4PL, freight brokerage, customs brokerage and managed transportation solutions.<\/p>

Targeting shippers directly<\/h2>

Chhugani said Nuvo AI is designed specifically for North American shippers, including manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors that move truckload freight.<\/p>

Nuvocargo is deliberately targeting shippers rather than freight brokers, which are the primary customers for many AI logistics startups, he said.<\/p>

\u201cThis is not an AI offering for brokers,\u201d Chhugani said. \u201cWe\u2019re bringing this value directly to shippers so they don\u2019t have to worry about the best way to run a North America truckload freight supply chain.\u201d<\/p>

AI agents automate much of the load lifecycle<\/h2>

At the center of the platform is NuvoOS, the company\u2019s proprietary transportation management system rebuilt to operate with AI agents that automate large portions of the truckload shipping workflow.<\/p>

Nuvo AI deploys more than a dozen AI agents that can handle tasks such as scheduling appointments, negotiating rates with carriers, processing freight documents and auditing invoices. The agents can manage more than 70% of load touchpoints, according to Nuvocargo.<\/p>

\u201cEverything you can think of in a load, it\u2019s either being done through our platform, our integrated partner or AI agents,\u201d Chhugani said.<\/p>\n

The system can ingest purchase orders from a shipper\u2019s ERP system, build loads, schedule appointments, negotiate with carriers through voice and email AI, track shipments via GPS and handle freight audit and payment.<\/p>

However, Chhugani said the system is intentionally designed as a hybrid model combining automation with human oversight.<\/p>

\u201cWe are not striving for 100% automation anywhere,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re striving for a lot of the grunt work to be automated so that a single human can do a lot more.\u201d <\/p>

Platform designed to reduce freight and software costs<\/h2>

Chhugani said Nuvo AI can reduce freight spend by 7% to 20% for customers, depending on the size of the shipper and how much of their freight network runs through the platform.<\/p>

The savings typically come from three main areas: automating manual logistics work, consolidating multiple supply chain software tools into one system, and improving procurement and carrier pricing, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reduce costs for shippers in three buckets,\u201d Chhugani said. \u201cNumber one, automating a lot of manual work. The second bucket is the software spend. And the third bucket is your freight spend.\u201d<\/p>

Nuvo AI is designed to work with a shipper\u2019s existing carrier and broker relationships rather than forcing them to move freight through a new brokerage network.<\/p>

The system can standardize bidding, visibility and carrier performance data across multiple providers, Chhugani said. The platform also provides access to Nuvocargo\u2019s network of more than 300,000 carriers, giving shippers additional sourcing options if they want to optimize pricing or capacity.<\/p>

\u201cIf there\u2019s a shipper that has 10 carriers and five brokers they love, that\u2019s perfectly fine,\u201d he said. \u201cWe can just work with their existing carriers and brokers if they so choose.\u201d<\/p>

AI designed to augment freight experts<\/h2>

Chhugani emphasized that the company does not see AI replacing logistics professionals. but instead augmenting them.<\/p>

\u201cYou should never replace humans completely in this model because it\u2019s very risky,\u201d he said. Freight is an industry that requires the expertise of humans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Freight specialists monitor AI agents, resolve edge cases and manage complex logistics situations that automation cannot handle, he said.<\/p>

Nuvocargo\u2019s operations team has already managed more than 100,000 loads across domestic freight and cross-border shipments between the U.S., Mexico and Canada.<\/p> <\/div>
