A local fishing boat capsized in the waters off northeastern Japan’s Aomori Prefecture on Tuesday, after it collided with a cargo ship. Authorities say four people are dead.<\/p>\n

The remaining nine crew members are all said to be uninjured.<\/p>\n

The collision occurred about 20 kilometers off the coast of the city of Misawa. At around 1:18 a.m. the coast guard received a report from the cargo ship’s captain.<\/p>\n

Officials say all of the fishing boat’s crew members were thrown into the water. They add it is likely that the fishing boat sank.<\/p>\n

The coast guard is investigating the cause of the collision. It says that at the time of the accident the waves were about a meter high, the weather was fine, and there was good visibility.<\/p>\n
