Thomas John Allred Boland faces charges of possessing child sexual abuse material after being identified through a tech firm’s report to a child safety center.<\/p>\n

DECATUR, Ala. \u2014 A Decatur man arrested Thursday on child pornography charges was identified after a technology company reported his cloud storage account to a national child safety clearinghouse, according to court documents filed Friday and reviewed by FOX54.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Thomas John Allred Boland<\/strong>, of Decatur, was taken into custody by Decatur Police on Thursday and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

According to an arrest warrant affidavit sworn by Decatur Police Detective Jodie Fuller, Synchronoss Technologies<\/strong> reported a user to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children<\/strong> between Dec. 23, 2025 and Feb. 22, 2026 for uploading and storing child sexual abuse material.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Synchronoss provided investigators with a cell phone number tied to the account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Six separate CyberTips<\/a> were generated and assigned to Detective Fuller, who is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the full contents of the reported account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

What was found was disturbing.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

After reviewing the material, Fuller determined the account was being used to store a large quantity of child sexual abuse material<\/strong> and identified the account owner as Boland.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Boland’s residence on Sherman Street. That warrant was executed on Thursday, during which multiple electronic devices were seized, including Boland’s cell phone. Investigators determined he possessed a large quantity of child sexual abuse material on both his phone and his cloud storage account.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The affidavit describes at least one image found in the Synchronoss account depicting the sexual abuse of a female infant<\/strong>. FOX54 is not including details of that photograph due to the explicit and disturbing nature of the abuse.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Boland was charged in Morgan County District Court with 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. His bond was set at $100,000 for each count.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
