They had cleared several stages of the recruitment process earlier in 2025 but are yet to receive formal offer letters or confirmed joining dates.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"727\" data-start=\"685\">DELAY AFTER COMPLETING RECRUITMENT PROCESS<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ads__container inline-story-add inline_ad1\" id=\"1\">\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><button class=\"readmoreAction\">Read Full Story<\/button><\/p>\n<p>Several graduates told Moneycontrol that they had completed multiple stages of the selection process earlier this year. This included aptitude tests and two rounds of technical and HR interviews conducted between January and February 2025.<\/p>\n<p>However, even after their names appeared in the final selection list in March 2025, the candidates say they have not yet received formal offer letters from the company.<\/p>\n<p>One fresher from a college in Pune told Moneycontrol that the waiting period has now stretched close to a year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had gone through two rounds of tests in January 2025. Then we were called for two interview rounds at Tech Mahindra\u2019s office in Pune in February. Final selection list came in March 2025. It\u2019s nearly a year since we were informed of our job selection during the final year of college. We didn\u2019t even get our formal offer letters yet,\u201d the fresher said as quoted in the report. <\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"1650\" data-start=\"1609\">PLACEMENT CELLS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANSWERS<\/h3>\n<p>The fresher said that at first students were not worried because placement cells had warned them that IT companies could delay offer letters or joining dates.<\/p>\n<p>But as months passed, many of their classmates who were selected by other companies received joining dates, while this group continues to wait.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur college placement cell had informed to expect some delays in receiving offer letters and joining dates from IT companies, so we weren\u2019t worried earlier. But now all my batchmates have got their joining dates by October and December, we are still waiting for an update. Even the placement cell head hasn\u2019t helped us out. They are focusing on campus hiring of this year\u2019s batch. We are stuck now,\u201d the fresher told Moneycontrol.<\/p>\n<p>The student added that the long delay has also created personal pressure. The fresher comes from a district nearly 500 kilometres away from Pune and said returning home has become difficult as people in the hometown already know about the campus placement at a well-known IT company.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"2712\" data-start=\"2675\">FRESHERS START LOOKING FOR OTHER JOBS<\/h3>\n<p>Another selected candidate told Moneycontrol that some freshers have started applying to other companies after waiting for months without any update.<\/p>\n<p>According to the candidate, many students began looking for new opportunities after Diwali when there was still no clear communication about joining.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ads__container add-div-container inline-story-add inline-story-ad-scroll inline_ad add-div-container mb-302\" id=\"2\">\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>However, finding a job in the IT sector has not been easy. The candidate said the current business environment and the growing use of artificial intelligence have made the job market tougher for fresh graduates.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"3278\" data-start=\"3229\">EMPLOYEE GROUP MAY TAKE MATTER TO LABOUR MINISTRY<\/h3>\n<p>Employee body Forum for Information Technology Employees (FITE) has also taken note of the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Prashant Pandit, Secretary at the Pune-based group, told Moneycontrol that the number of affected candidates is large.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver a 1,000 selected freshers are waiting for joining letters from Tech Mahindra. Once more freshers formally raise complaints, we will be taking this issue to the labour ministry to resolve at the earliest,\u201d Pandit said.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"3781\" data-start=\"3724\">TECH MAHINDRA SAYS OFFERS ARE BEING ROLLED OUT IN BATCHES<\/h3>\n<p>Tech Mahindra responded to queries from Moneycontrol saying the company is issuing offer letters gradually.<\/p>\n<p>A company spokesperson said the Pune-headquartered firm is releasing offer letters to graduates in batches depending on business demand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue rolling out offer letters to graduates in batches aligned with improving business demand. We remain committed to honoring our campus hiring commitments,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also pointed out that demand for fresh graduates across the IT industry has been lower than expected.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ads__container add-div-container inline-story-add inline-story-ad-scroll inline_ad add-div-container mb-303\" id=\"3\">\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAcross the industry, anticipated demand for fresh graduates has been lower than projected, resulting in a slower pace of onboarding,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"4548\" data-start=\"4501\">FRESHER ONBOARDING DELAYS SEEN ACROSS IT SECTOR<\/h3>\n<p>Delays in onboarding new hires have become common in the IT industry over the past two years due to uncertain demand.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Wipro delayed the onboarding of around 250 freshers by nearly eight months, even after sending offer letters, joining dates and work locations.<\/p>\n<p>Other large IT companies have also seen similar situations. In 2025, Tata Consultancy Services delayed onboarding around 600 lateral hires. In 2024, Infosys had also made headlines after onboarding of around 2,000 freshers was pushed back.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"5114\" data-start=\"5074\">TECH MAHINDRA PLANS LOWER FRESHER HIRING<\/h3>\n<p>Tech Mahindra has already indicated that it will hire fewer freshers in FY26.<\/p>\n<p>During the company\u2019s third-quarter earnings call in January, CEO and Managing Director Mohit Joshi said fresher hiring would be lower compared with the previous year, when the company added around 6,000 freshers.<\/p>\n<p>Joshi said the decision is linked to the current demand environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did have a lower level of fresh hires this year as compared to the previous year, but that&#8217;s because of the demand environment. We&#8217;ve flagged it out,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ads__container add-div-container inline-story-add inline-story-ad-scroll inline_ad add-div-container mb-304\" id=\"4\">\n<p>advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The company is currently working on a business turnaround plan that runs until FY27. As part of this effort, Tech Mahindra is trying to improve margins and increase the use of its existing workforce.<\/p>\n<h3 data-end=\"5875\" data-start=\"5845\">REDEPLOYING EXISTING EMPLOYEES<\/h3>\n<p>Joshi said the company is also reviewing its fixed-price projects, which account for close to 50% of Tech Mahindra\u2019s total revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The company aims to improve productivity in these projects by redeploying employees who are already on the bench or are becoming free from other assignments instead of hiring new staff.<\/p>\n<p>According to Joshi, several employees working on fixed-price projects are expected to be released and moved to other roles within the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn one hand, you are getting people freed up from fixed-price projects who are being redeployed, resulting in both margin growth and profit growth.
