MANILA, March 12 (Xinhua) — A dock worker was killed as a cargo vessel capsized at a port in Cebu province in the central Philippines, the country’s Coast Guard District Central Visayas said Thursday.<\/p>\n
The vessel was conducting loading operations when it developed a list, which shifted during de-ballasting procedures and eventually led to its capsizing on Wednesday, the agency said on social media.<\/p>\n
During the incident, one cement handler was struck by a mooring line that snapped and collapsed amid the vessel’s capsizing. The victim was brought to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.<\/p>\n
During rescue operations, one engine crew member was trapped inside the engine room. An extensive rescue operation was conducted, resulting in the safe extraction of the crew member.<\/p>\n
All 19 crew of the vessel were safe, the agency said.<\/p>\n
