Awery Aviation Software has become the first digital platform to integrate International Air Transport Association\u2019s emissions calculation tool, IATA CO2 Connect for Cargo, enabling the air cargo industry to access standardised and more accurate emissions data.<\/p>\n

The integration allows users to obtain shipment-level carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions data within Awery\u2019s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform, using flight-specific information directly within their existing workflows.<\/p>\n

Launched earlier this year, CO2 Connect for Cargo calculates emissions using airline-contributed operational data such as aircraft type-specific fuel burn, cargo load factors and passenger load factors. This enables the tool to provide emissions data at shipment level rather than relying on general industry averages.<\/p>\n

As of February 2026, more than 100 airlines are providing primary operational data to the overall CO2 Connect platform, including dedicated cargo carriers.<\/p>\n

The CO2 Connect calculator aligns with international standards including IATA Recommended Practice 1678, ISO 14083 and the GLEC Framework 3.2 developed by the Smart Freight Centre. It is designed to support emissions reporting requirements and help companies track progress towards sustainability targets.<\/p>\n

\u201cIATA CO2 Connect has established itself as the only carbon calculator for air travel emissions based on operational data from more than 100 airlines and aligned with global standards such as ISO 14083. We are pleased to have Awery onboard to make sure this information is widely available across the air cargo industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The development of CO2 Connect for Cargo follows feedback collected during a 2025 pilot phase involving freight forwarders, shippers and technology companies, including Awery, to ensure the calculator meets operational requirements while improving CO2 data transparency.<\/p>\n

The announcement also coincides with Awery\u2019s participation at the IATA World Cargo Symposium in Lima, Peru, where Smilianets is delivering the keynote session titled \u2018ONE Record as the Backbone for Sustainable Air Cargo\u2019.<\/p>\n

Awery has long supported IATA\u2019s ONE Record data standard, which aims to improve transparency, interoperability and data quality across the air cargo industry.<\/p>\n

Awery\u2019s Chief Experience Officer, Phaedra den Hertog, is also participating in a panel discussion titled \u2018From Data Silos to Insights: Leveraging Environmental Data for Smarter Decisions.\u2019<\/p>\n
