Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal (PACTL) and its subsidiary PACTL WEST have achieved the International Air Transport Association\u2019s Integrated Sustainability Program Environmental Assessment (ISP:IEnvA) certification, becoming the first air cargo terminal operator in the Chinese mainland to complete the ISP:IEnvA assessment. The certification strengthens the company\u2019s portfolio of international accreditations and highlights its alignment with global standards in safety, quality and environmental management. <\/p>\n

The certification adds to PACTL\u2019s existing international accreditations, including full IATA CEIV certifications and the ISAGO audit. These recognitions reflect the company\u2019s long-term commitment to operating in line with internationally recognised standards. <\/p>\n

PACTL said it has integrated structured sustainability principles into its daily operations, cargo handling and facility maintenance. The company has introduced initiatives such as expanding on-site photovoltaic power generation, electrifying forklifts, upgrading lighting systems and promoting paperless processes. These measures are aimed at supporting green transformation across key operational areas while aligning with recognised sustainability standards. <\/p>\n

Dr Xie Xingquan, Regional Vice President for North Asia at the International Air Transport Association, said the certification marks an important step in advancing sustainability in the aviation sector. He noted that PACTL\u2019s achievement could help lead environmental progress among airports and other aviation stakeholders in the region, while strengthening the credibility and impact of sustainability initiatives across the industry. <\/p>\n

Carsten Hernig, Deputy General Manager of PACTL, said the milestone reflects the company\u2019s continued focus on building transparent and robust environmental management practices. He added that aligning with internationally recognised frameworks such as IEnvA supports the company\u2019s efforts to meet the expectations of customers and partners across the aviation supply chain. <\/p>\n

The Integrated Sustainability Program is an IATA certification framework designed for aviation stakeholders. It provides guidance, training, assessments and tools across four key areas: environmental management, sustainable procurement, social responsibility and sustainability performance. The IEnvA module specifically focuses on environmental management and evaluates how organisations address environmental considerations through governance, operational control and management processes, with an emphasis on systematic management and continuous improvement. <\/p>\n

Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal is a German-Chinese joint venture established in 1999 that specialises in air cargo handling at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The company operates four terminals across two Shanghai airports and provides more than 210,000 square metres of storage along with a truck service network covering mainland China. <\/p>\n

PACTL currently serves more than 70 airline companies and over 300 freight forwarders, supporting a global network that spans five continents. The company said its long-term customer relationships and service capabilities have helped position it among the world\u2019s leading air cargo terminals. <\/p>\n
