Damon Stoudamire will not return as basketball coach at Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n

The school fired Stoudamire on Sunday, one day after the Yellow Jackets concluded their season with a 79-76 loss at Clemson for their 12th straight defeat.<\/p>\n

Georgia Tech posted an 11-20 overall record and was 2-16 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Yellow Jackets finished last in the ACC and didn\u2019t qualify for the conference tournament.<\/p>\n

ESPN said Stoudamire has $2.6 million and two years remaining on his contract.<\/p>\n

Stoudamire, 52, had a 42-55 (19-39 ACC) record in three seasons.<\/p>\n

He was a Boston Celtics assistant coach when Georgia Tech hired him before the 2023-24 season. Before that, he compiled a 71-77 record in five seasons (2016-21) at Pacific.<\/p>\n

An undersized guard in college at Arizona, Stoudamire was the No. 7 overall pick of the 1995 NBA Draft and spent 13 seasons in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs. <\/p>\n

He won NBA Rookie of the Year in 1996. <\/p>\n

Per Georgia Tech, Greg Gary will serve as the interim head coach.<\/p>\n
