ATHENS, Feb 28 (Reuters) – Greece’s shipping ministry advised Greek-flagged vessels on Saturday to \u200cexercise maximum vigilance and avoid the \u200cPersian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and the \u200bStrait of Hormuz following strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran, according to an advisory seen by Reuters.<\/p>\n

“The developing \u200csituation affects the \u2060safety of navigation in the wider Persian Gulf, the Straits of \u2060Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman and the North Arabian Sea,” the document said, advising \u200bmanaging companies \u200bto implement the \u200bhighest level of \u200csecurity measures in those areas and Israeli ports until further notice.<\/p>\n

It added that it could not rule out the spread of the crisis to the Red Sea and \u200cthe Gulf of Aden \u200bdue to links between \u200bIran and Iran-aligned \u200bHouthi militants.<\/p>\n

The advisory also warned \u200cships to be vigilant \u200bfor potential \u200bmissile or drone attacks, strikes on port facilities, harassment or electronic interference and \u200bdisruptions to \u200cthe electronic navigation systems of ships.<\/p>\n
