Mahindra and Mahindra has officially locked in 2027 for the arrival of its next born-electric SUV, internally codenamed B07. The confirmation came during the company\u2019s latest earnings call.<\/p>\n

While B07 is only an internal reference, the production SUV is widely understood to be derived from the Mahindra BE.07 concept first showcased in August 2022 as part of Mahindra\u2019s ambitious Born Electric reveal. That presentation had outlined five future-ready electric SUVs, and the upcoming model will be the fourth to transition from concept to reality.<\/p>\n

Positioned above BE 6<\/h3>\n

Dimensionally, the BE.07 concept measured roughly 4.6 metres in length, placing the eventual production SUV above the BE 6 in Mahindra\u2019s electric hierarchy. Its stance and proportions suggest a more conventional SUV silhouette compared to the sharper, coupe-inspired lines of its sibling.<\/p>\n

When it arrives, the new SUV is expected to square off against models such as the Tata Harrier EV and the VinFast VF7.<\/p>\n

INGLO platform and familiar battery options<\/h3>\n

Under the skin, the SUV will continue to leverage Mahindra\u2019s dedicated INGLO skateboard architecture, which already underpins its current Born Electric range. Battery pack options are likely to mirror existing offerings, with capacities expected to span approximately 60kWh to 80kWh. Real-world range figures could comfortably cross the 500km mark, depending on configuration.<\/p>\n

Performance is expected to remain a strong suit. If it follows the broader strategy of Mahindra\u2019s EV portfolio, outputs in the region of 230bhp and 400Nm are plausible, ensuring brisk acceleration alongside everyday usability.<\/p>\n

Patent images and concept previews indicate that the production model will retain several signature elements including the distinctive C-shaped LED lighting motifs but with toned-down surfacing for broader appeal. Compared to the more radical BE 6 and XEV 9e, this SUV is expected to adopt a cleaner, more upright aesthetic.<\/p>\n

Inside, a tech-heavy layout is anticipated. The concept featured a triple-screen dashboard arrangement, expansive glass area and minimal physical switchgear. However, given customer feedback on touch-centric controls in recent launches, Mahindra may reintroduce more tactile elements for improved usability without diluting the futuristic theme.<\/p>\n

A crucial volume driver<\/h3>\n

During the earnings interaction, Rajesh Jejurikar described the upcoming SUV as a “very big volume driver” that will build on the momentum created by Mahindra\u2019s existing electric trio. The carmaker is currently averaging around 4,000 EV sales per month and is targeting a ramp-up to 6,000\u20137,000 units monthly over the coming year.<\/p>\n

That said, the broader EV growth curve has shown signs of moderation recently, making the 2027 launch strategically important. The new SUV will play a pivotal role in sustaining scale as competition intensifies across price bands.<\/p>\n

What happens before 2027?<\/h3>\n

Mahindra\u2019s EV roadmap for 2026 appears relatively quiet. Following the recent additions to its electric portfolio earlier this year, the company has no fresh EV launches planned next year. Instead, focus will shift to updates to its internal combustion line-up, including a mid-cycle refresh of the Scorpio N.<\/p>\n
