not nearly as much as many competitors.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>In fact, of the several pairs we\u2019ve tested recently, this is the lowest elastane content.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>The Decathlon Simond MT500 Durable Trekking Trousers use 12\u201315% elastane in different zones, the INOV8 Venture Pant includes 12% and the Keela Peru has 7%.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Craghoppers aren\u2019t particularly stretchy, and they lack the athletic, dynamic feel of more modern designs.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>For some hikers, that will be a deal-breaker. For others, it won\u2019t really matter.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, this design and fabric choice gives the Kiwi Pro Cargo a more traditional, slightly stiffer and straighter feel.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re not especially progressive or class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Our overall view of the Kiwi range remains consistent: it\u2019s a solid performer and a dependable choice; nothing too exceptional, data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Heel tape reinforcements at the ankle cuffs also increase the robustness of these trousers.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>If you face inclement weather while wearing these trousers, the main polyamide-elastane fabric is also packed with several of Craghoppers\u2019 signature technologies, designed to enhance practicality and everyday outdoor performance.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>The material features H2OShield, a plant-based water-repellent finish that\u2019s bonded onto the fabric from a renewable source, helping rain bead and roll off rather than soak in.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also SolarShield technology, which has been tried and tested to provide UPF 30\u201350+ protection from harmful UV rays \u2013 useful for long summer days out in the hills.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>In addition, the fabric incorporates NosiDefence, a tightly woven construction that forms a robust barrier too tough for insects such as mosquitoes to penetrate.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Altogether, these technologies combine to create a UPF 50+ sun-protective, insect bite-resistant, stretch fabric that\u2019s durable and water-repellent thanks to the H2OShield finish \u2013 making for a practical, all-round pair of trousers for everyday outdoor use.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>In my opinion these technologies give you a nice dose of reassuring ruggedness, robustness and weather protection, but ultimately they are only useful for light downpours.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>When the rain gets heavy, you\u2019ll definitely need to pull on a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livefortheoutdoors.com\/hiking\/walking-trousers\/best-waterproof-trousers-reviewed\/\" target=\"_blank\">waterproof overtrousers<\/a> for full protection.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<h2>Fit and comfort<\/h2>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m 68 kg and 178 cm tall, with a slim and athletic build, and I tested the Kiwi Pro Cargo trousers in my usual size \u2013 a men\u2019s 32-inch waist with a regular leg. The fit was absolutely fine for me, and in my opinion, these trousers run true to size.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>During my test hikes around my home in northern Cumbria during October, I found them perfectly comfortable.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>They didn\u2019t feel especially agile or athletic, as discussed earlier, but the cut and articulation were good, and they moved well enough during typical hillwalking activity.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Craghoppers describes the cut as an \u201cactive fit\u201d, but it feels more traditional to me compared to many other The Kiwi Pro III trousers are an excellent middle-ground choice at \u00a345.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>This new Kiwi Pro Cargo version adds two side cargo pockets for an extra \u00a310, bringing the total to \u00a355.
