The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded a contract for four new logistic support vessels aimed at strengthening the Royal Swedish Navy\u2019s sea-based mobile sustainment capability, with deliveries scheduled for 2030.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV<\/a>) has signed a contract with the supplier Freire Shipyard<\/a> for the procurement of four new logistic support vessels. The new vessels will strengthen the Navy\u2019s sea-based mobile logistics capability and will be delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces in 2030.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe procurement of the logistic support vessels began in the summer of 2024, and with the contract signing we are now entering the production phase. The project strategy is to acquire a civilian vessel platform and subsequently integrate weapons as well as military command, control, and communications (C3) systems at a separately procured shipyard responsible for militarisation,\u201d says Carl Johan Widmark, Project Manager at FMV.<\/p>\n

Platforms for Sea-Based Mobile Logistics<\/h3>\n

The logistic support vessels are one of four new platform types included in the programme currently being implemented by FMV to support the Swedish Armed Forces in developing its sea-based mobile logistics capability.<\/p>\n
