Indian benchmark indices ended sharply lower on February 24, with heavy selling pressure dragging frontline stocks down on the F&O expiry day. The Nifty 50 slipped below the 25,450 mark at the close.<\/p>\n

The Sensex declined 1,068.74 points or 1.28% to settle at 82,225.92, while the Nifty 50 fell 288.35 points or 1.12% to close at 25,424.65.<\/p>\n

Among the top losers in the Nifty 50 was Tech Mahindra<\/span><\/span>, which dropped 6.6% to close at \u20b91,345.4. HCL Technologies<\/span><\/span> fell 6.1% to \u20b91,339.2. Eternal<\/span><\/span> declined 5.2% to \u20b9254.0.<\/p>\n

Infosys<\/span><\/span> ended 3.9% lower at \u20b91,275.5, while Tata Consultancy Services<\/span><\/span> slipped 3.8% to \u20b92,573.7. Larsen & Toubro<\/span><\/span> lost 3.6% to close at \u20b94,259.2.<\/p>\n

Trent<\/span><\/span> fell 3.1% to \u20b93,931.3. Bharti Airtel<\/span><\/span> declined 2.8% to \u20b91,941.0, while Wipro<\/span><\/span> also dropped 2.8% to \u20b9200.1.<\/p>\n

HDFC Bank<\/span><\/span> closed 1.4% lower at \u20b9910.5.<\/p>\n

The decline was led largely by IT stocks, with multiple major technology names ending the session with losses of more than 3% as broader market sentiment remained weak through the expiry session.<\/p>\n
