The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is now official
AMD’s long-rumoured dual-X3D CPU is finally here. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is the first consumer-grade CPU to come with 3D V-cache on both CPU tiles, and it will be available for purchase in April.

AMD’s long-rumoured Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 finally has a release date. Initially slated to debut at CES 2026, the dual-CCD Zen 5 processor only ever existed in rumours and hearsay until today. Jack Huynh, AMD’s SVP of client computing and graphics, has officially acknowledged the chip’s existence and stated it will be available for purchase on April 22.

Unfortunately, no price has been specified, but it definitely won’t be cheap. Additionally, AMD is positioning the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 as an AI productivity chip, not a gaming beast. AMD’s own data suggests it is only marginally faster than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, with a 13% performance uplift in some tasks. Ideally, games should greatly benefit from the extra L3 cache, but the company hasn’t uttered a peep about its gaming prowess.

Specs-wise, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 comes with 16 cores and 32 threads with a max boost clock of 5.6 GHz, 192 MB of L3 cache, and a TDP of 200 Watts. Under maximum load, it will likely consume more, and it’ll be interesting to see how well it handles overclocking. AMD positions the CPU as a bridge between high-end Ryzen and Threadripper systems.
