Volkswagen doubles down on Rwanda as regional mobility hub
The company said it will continue its full range of activities in Rwanda, including mobility services, vehicle assembly, retail operations, and after-sales support.

Beyond the relocation, Volkswagen is also expanding its footprint by building a regional team tasked with driving its mobility services strategy across the African continent. This positions Rwanda as a base for broader continental operations rather than just a local market.
For Rwanda, retaining a global automaker strengthens its ambition to become a regional mobility and manufacturing hub.
For Volkswagen, the expansion reinforces its strategy of embedding itself in Africa’s evolving transport ecosystem, where localized production and mobility services are expected to shape the future of the continent’s auto industry.
