Investigators have recovered millions of dollars in stolen goods across Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Nine suspects were arrested in what’s being described as an organized cargo theft ring. Detectives seized about seven-million-dollars in stolen freight and another one-million-dollars in cash. Authorities say 36 companies were hit, including major retailers and brands like Amazon, Costco, Disney and Sony.
Eyewitness News says the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department formed the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force in September 2023 to combat these types of organized thefts. The suspects been booked on suspicion of grand theft of cargo, money laundering and receiving stolen property.
