The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has entered into a significant contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) for the construction of a 3000 DWT Methanol Dual Fuel Platform Supply Vessel (PSV). The contract was executed on 18th March 2026, marking a pivotal step in SCI’s commitment to green shipping initiatives.
This new PSV will be the first in SCI’s fleet designed to operate on Green Methanol, an alternative fuel. This initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), underscoring SCI’s dedication to sustainable and environmentally friendly maritime operations.
The event was officially recorded on 18th March 2026 at 1315 hours, highlighting SCI’s proactive approach to adopting green technologies in its operations.
