Dell releases Alienware 16 Area-51 Laptop with optional OLED display and up to 96GB RAM

Dell has released the Alienware 16 Area-51 laptop that was first unveiled at CES 2026. The gaming laptop has a new design, optional OLED display, and can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 290HX Plus processor.

Following the launch at CES 2026, Dell has now released the Alienware 16 Area-51 laptop that it first unveiled at CES 2026. The new laptop is available in different configuration, including a model with an anti-glare OLED display.

Dell says the new Alienware 16 Area-51 laptop introduces the Alienware 30 (AW30) industrial design which was named in celebration of the brand’s 30th anniversary. The laptop has pillowed palm rests, fluid contours, and a patent-pending zero hinge that uses telescopic and rotational motion to make the hinge look invisible.

It features an anodized aluminum lid that can support up to 15kg of force and a hinge with a 20,000-cycle lifespan. It also boasts a CherryMX ultra-low keyboard with 1.8mm key travel and per-key AlienFX lighting; a multipoint AlienFX touchpad with integrated scrolling on select models; Dolby Atmos quad speakers; and Dolby Vision support. The webcam is a 2MP FHD IR camera with Windows Hello support and dual-array microphones.   

The Alienware 16 Area-51 has a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 display, but while the LCD version has a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and 500 nits brightness, the version with an anti-glare OLED display has a 240Hz refresh rate with 0.2ms response time, a 120% DCI-P3 color gamut, and 620 peak HDR luminance. Both versions feature ComfortView Plus and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus. The latter automatically switches between integrated graphics and dedicated graphics for better battery life and performance.

The Alienware 16 Area-51 is available in four processors and five GPU options:

  2. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7
  3. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 12GB GDDR7
  4. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7
  5. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 24GB GDDR7

The spec sheet also mentions that it will be available with up to 96GB of DDR5 RAM (2x 32GB) at 6400 MT/s with 2x SODIMMs memory slots. The storage option also goes up to 2TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen5 SSD. There’s a 96Wh battery with support for fast charging (80% in 35 minutes).

The Alienware 16 Area-51 has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port with PowerShare technology, 1x HDMI 2.1 port, a headphone jack, a full-sized SD card slot, and up to 2x Thunderbolt 5 ports. It comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Home or Windows 11 Professional

The Alienware 16 Area-51 will be available later today on the official Alienware website. Pricing has not yet been revealed.
