Thomas John Allred Boland faces charges of possessing child sexual abuse material after being identified through a tech firm’s report to a child safety center.
DECATUR, Ala. — A Decatur man arrested Thursday on child pornography charges was identified after a technology company reported his cloud storage account to a national child safety clearinghouse, according to court documents filed Friday and reviewed by FOX54.
Thomas John Allred Boland, of Decatur, was taken into custody by Decatur Police on Thursday and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit sworn by Decatur Police Detective Jodie Fuller, Synchronoss Technologies reported a user to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children between Dec. 23, 2025 and Feb. 22, 2026 for uploading and storing child sexual abuse material.
Synchronoss provided investigators with a cell phone number tied to the account.
Six separate CyberTips were generated and assigned to Detective Fuller, who is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the full contents of the reported account.
What was found was disturbing.
After reviewing the material, Fuller determined the account was being used to store a large quantity of child sexual abuse material and identified the account owner as Boland.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Boland’s residence on Sherman Street. That warrant was executed on Thursday, during which multiple electronic devices were seized, including Boland’s cell phone. Investigators determined he possessed a large quantity of child sexual abuse material on both his phone and his cloud storage account.
The affidavit describes at least one image found in the Synchronoss account depicting the sexual abuse of a female infant. FOX54 is not including details of that photograph due to the explicit and disturbing nature of the abuse.
Boland was charged in Morgan County District Court with 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material. His bond was set at $100,000 for each count.
FOX54 first reported Boland’s arrest Thursday.
