Kitchenware manufacturer Joseph Joseph has expanded its logistics partnership with XPO Logistics to strengthen the management of its international freight and distribution network.
The extended agreement adds global freight forwarding to the existing contract between the two companies, with XPO Logistics now responsible for managing shipments from China to its distribution facility in Rugby, United Kingdom. The arrangement creates a more integrated logistics structure that connects international sourcing, freight transport and final distribution within a single supply chain framework.
Joseph Joseph initially partnered with XPO Logistics in August 2025 as part of a broader effort to scale its logistics operations. The partnership supports a range of distribution channels including direct to consumer shipments, retail supply chains, e commerce fulfillment and business to business deliveries.
By expanding the agreement to include international freight forwarding, the company is aiming to simplify the coordination of inbound freight flows while improving supply chain visibility and operational efficiency.
Integrated freight forwarding and distribution operations
Under the new agreement, XPO Logistics will manage the movement of goods from manufacturing sites in China to the UK distribution hub in Rugby. The facility acts as a central logistics node for Joseph Joseph’s European operations and plays a key role in managing inbound inventory and outbound deliveries.
From the Rugby warehouse, products are distributed to retail partners, e commerce customers and wholesale clients across multiple markets.
Bringing international freight forwarding into the existing logistics partnership allows Joseph Joseph to consolidate several elements of its supply chain within a single provider. This integrated approach can reduce complexity, improve coordination and help streamline the flow of goods from origin to final destination.
For many consumer goods companies, managing global supply chains involves coordinating freight transport, customs processes, warehouse operations and last mile distribution. Consolidating these functions within one logistics partner can improve operational transparency and reduce administrative friction across the network.
The agreement also strengthens Joseph Joseph’s ability to manage inbound freight flows as the company continues to expand its product range and international sales.
Real time supply chain visibility
A key component of the expanded partnership is the use of XPO Logistics’ proprietary supply chain technology platform, which provides end to end visibility across freight movements and logistics operations.
Through the digital portal, Joseph Joseph will be able to monitor shipments from the point of origin through to final delivery. The platform provides real time updates on orders, purchase orders and container movements as well as key logistics milestones such as customs clearance and arrival times.
This visibility allows logistics teams to better track freight flows, anticipate potential delays and manage inventory more effectively within distribution facilities.
The platform also provides detailed insights into the progress of shipments through customs processes, enabling supply chain teams to coordinate inbound deliveries with warehouse operations and distribution schedules.
In complex international supply chains, access to accurate real time logistics data has become increasingly important for maintaining service levels and responding quickly to disruptions.
Automation supporting customs and freight processes
XPO Logistics has also integrated artificial intelligence driven automation into its freight forwarding operations to support faster customs clearance and documentation management.
These systems automatically validate shipment data, identify potential discrepancies and prepare customs documentation ahead of shipment arrival. By processing paperwork in advance, logistics providers can help reduce delays at border checkpoints and improve the efficiency of international freight flows.
Automated validation also helps reduce the risk of compliance errors that can occur when handling large volumes of documentation across multiple shipments.
Christophe Verot, senior vice president for forwarding in Europe at XPO Logistics, said the company’s digital platform is designed to provide more than basic shipment tracking.
According to Verot, the system allows customers to maintain visibility across the entire logistics process while ensuring that operational and compliance requirements are being managed effectively.
Supporting growth across global distribution channels
Joseph Joseph’s logistics network supports a combination of retail distribution, e commerce fulfillment and direct to consumer deliveries. As demand across these channels continues to grow, maintaining an efficient supply chain has become increasingly important.
The expanded partnership with XPO Logistics is intended to support that growth by creating a more coordinated logistics structure linking international manufacturing with distribution operations in the United Kingdom.
Sacha Vaughan, chief supply chain officer at Joseph Joseph, said the company has seen strong progress since the initial partnership with XPO Logistics began.
“We’ve been delighted with the progress we’ve made with XPO Logistics since our partnership began six months ago,” Vaughan said.
“Expanding the partnership to include our global forwarding needs was an obvious choice.”
By integrating global freight forwarding with its existing logistics operations, Joseph Joseph aims to improve supply chain efficiency while ensuring reliable product availability across its growing distribution network.
For logistics providers, partnerships of this kind highlight the increasing importance of end to end supply chain management as retailers and manufacturers seek greater resilience and visibility within global freight networks.
