A West Midlands company specialising in the design and engineering of concept vehicles and prototypes for major car manufacturers including Bentley, Rolls Royce and Land Rover has ceased trading, resulting in the loss of 65 jobs.
Administrators Appointed Following Financial Difficulties
Tyrone Courtman and Gareth Harris of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP were appointed joint administrators of HPL Prototypes on 3 March 2026. The appointment followed what the administrators described as a period of “financial distress and economic uncertainty”.
The administrators said they are currently “formulating their strategy and assessing the position with regard to current projects on various work sites”. However, with the business no longer trading, 65 employees have been made redundant.
Long-Standing Supplier to Leading Automotive Brands
HPL Prototypes has worked with a number of high-profile automotive manufacturers, including Bentley, Rolls Royce, Land Rover, Aston Martin, McLaren and Lotus. The company operated from sites in Coventry and Newcastle-under-Lyme.
