Airbus Opens New Tech Centre in Bengaluru to Boost ‘Make in India’

Airbus has inaugurated its new technology centre in Bengaluru, marking a significant expansion of its operations in India. The new facility will focus on engineering, digital transformation, customer services, and procurement, reinforcing the company’s ‘Make in India’ strategy.

In a ceremony attended by key representatives, including D.K. Shivakumar and M.B. Patil, Airbus unveiled the 880,000-square-foot campus, which will house up to 5,000 employees. The centre will play a pivotal role in various areas of aircraft development, maintenance, and digital services. It will also support Airbus’ sourcing activities in India, which have grown from $500 million in 2019 to over $1.5 billion today, with plans to exceed $2 billion in the coming years.

The Bengaluru tech hub will also offer a dedicated customer services unit to provide technical support and services to Airbus customers globally. Additionally, the campus will house a local chapter of the Airbus Leadership University, enhancing workforce training in line with India’s Skill India programme.

With over 100 Indian companies already supplying Airbus, this new centre further strengthens the company’s footprint in India, contributing to both local innovation and the country’s aerospace industry.
