The Battle Axe Division of the Indian Army’s Southern Command held an industry-academia event focused on drone technology and emerging defense systems, The Economic Times has reported.
More than 50 participants attended the initiative, including representatives from technology companies, universities, and the Indian Army.
The meeting aimed to connect military requirements with academic research and industrial capabilities to support the development of new indigenous defense equipment.
Discussions covered advances in unmanned aerial systems, counter-drone solutions, and other military technologies.
Participants also examined training needs and the development of technical skills required to support these capabilities.

The initiative comes as India pushes ahead with military modernization and the expansion of its domestic defense industry.
Earlier in March, Indian authorities advanced a plan to renew the Indian Air Force’s tactical transport fleet.
The Defence Procurement Board approved a proposal to acquire 60 transport aircraft, a program estimated at roughly $10.9 billion.
Following a review before the tender stage, the aircraft are expected to be acquired under the government’s “Buy and Make” model, combining foreign sourcing with domestic production.
Last month, the Indian Ministry of Defence issued a request for information for the Expendable Aerial Target Next Generation, intended to replicate the flight profile of fast, low-flying anti-ship missiles during naval air defense training.
Unlike reusable targets, these drones are intended to be destroyed during training, allowing naval crews to conduct air defense drills under conditions that simulate operational threats more closely.
